PhotoSynthesizers, also known as The Light In Sound or The Lightning Sound, emerged as a captivating art and music collective that left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Richmond, VA. Founded in 2008 by artists Maurice Leoni-Osion and Joshua Bryant, the project spanned over 11 transformative years, lasting until 2019. The collective's unique fusion of Hip-Hop, Rock, EDM, and Soul garnered them a reputation for delivering captivating live performances that transcended traditional genre boundaries.

At the heart of PhotoSynthesizers were co-founders Maurice "BarCodez" Leoni-Osion and J. Bryant, who brought their distinct talents as lyricists, vocalists, and instrumentalists to the forefront. The collective expanded to include a diverse array of resident members, each contributing their unique skills and artistic perspectives to the collective's dynamic sound.


Throughout their journey, PhotoSynthesizers released several singles and EPs and a full-length album entitled Apollogy. Their discography stands as a testament to their ability to seamlessly blend various genres into a cohesive and innovative musical experience.

The legacy of PhotoSynthesizers extends beyond their music, leaving an enduring impact on the intersection of art and sound. As a collective that embraced diversity and collaboration, PhotoSynthesizers created an immersive experience that transcended the conventional boundaries of live performance, leaving an indelible imprint on the artistic landscape of Richmond.
