The Atlas Artist residency
Amidst the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic, ART180 spearheaded the expansion of our youth-centric initiatives, culminating in the launch of the groundbreaking Atlas Artist Residency. As the architect of this transformative eight-week summer program, my role has been instrumental in shaping an immersive experience for 10 budding artists.
The Atlas Artist Residency represents a unique opportunity for aspiring young artists to engage in an intensive artistic journey guided by the mentorship of both local and international professional artists. Beyond the conventional artistic exploration, this program serves as a catalyst for mindfulness and health practices, social entrepreneurship, and overall creative development. Through a carefully curated curriculum, participants delve into a spectrum of activities, including workshops, site visits to art institutions, museums, galleries, and nature explorations.
In this capacity, my vision for the program is to harness the power of art as a transformative vehicle, fostering not only artistic skills but also a holistic approach to personal and professional growth. I have ensured that each youth artist selected for the Atlas Artist Residency receives more than just a learning experience; they are granted their own dedicated art studio space, a program stipend, and access to materials. These invaluable resources empower them to create exceptional art and enhance their portfolio significantly, providing a tangible boost to their resume/CV for future college applications.
